Thank you for visiting my blog.
First, I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I’m a self-taught engineer from Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
After graduating high school, I worked various part-time jobs for a while before joining my current company, where I taught myself programming and became an engineer.
Up until now, I just followed what my parents and friends told me, drifting along through exams and job hunting. Before I knew it, I was over 30, which even surprises me. Luckily, though, I met my wife, we were blessed with a child, and we’re living happily.
Then I had a dream: I want to live in Hawaii until I get tired of it. I figure a month or so would probably be enough. To make this dream come true, I realized I first need to be able to understand, speak, and read English.
My first hurdle is getting a perfect score on the TOEIC. I’m hoping that if I can score 990, it’ll be useful in Hawaii or anywhere else.
In this blog, I’ll document my TOEIC study progress and write about my daily life as an engineer, all with the hope of improving my English skills. I’m writing while looking up any words I don’t know.
There might be some weird expressions, so please feel free to point them out. I’d appreciate it!

まずは自己紹介を少しさせてください。私は
神奈川県横浜市の独学エンジニアです。
高校卒業後、しばらく様々なアルバイトを経験し、現在の会社に入社しました。
独学でプログラミングを学びエンジニアになりました。
これまでずっと、親や友人の言う通りに試験や就職活動に流されてきました。気がつくと30代を過ぎていて、自分でも驚いています。でも幸運なことに妻と出会い、子供にも恵まれ、今は幸せに暮らしています。
そんな中、ある夢が浮かびました。ハワイで、飽きるまで暮らしてみたい。おそらく1ヶ月ほどで十分でしょう。この夢を実現するには、まず英語を理解し、話し、読めるようになる必要があると気づきました。
最初のハードルはTOEICで満点を取ることです。990点を取れれば、ハワイでもどこでも役立つはずだと期待しています。
このブログでは、TOEICの勉強の進捗を記録し、エンジニアとしての日常を綴りながら、英語力の向上を目指します。分からない単語は調べながら書いています。
